Types of watches Before we buy a watch, we usually know about the types of watches. For example, mechanical watches, quartz watches, light energy watches, etc. In fact, in the watch industry, we generally divide watches into mechanical watches and quartz watches based on the difference in watch oscillators.
According to the different oscillators used in watches, mainstream watches on the market can be divided into the following two types.
Mechanical watch: A clock that is adjusted by a mechanical oscillator.
Quartz watch: a watch that is adjusted by an electronic oscillator - a quartz oscillator.
Mechanical watches can be divided into two types: manual mechanical watches and automatic mechanical watches:
Manual mechanical watch: It uses a hand-wound movement. The main spring of the movement is fully wound by turning the watch crown. When the spring is completely exhausted, the gear is driven to run and the pointer is pushed to keep time.
Automatic mechanical watch: The self-winding movement is driven by the weight of the oscillating weight in the movement. However, the swing of the arm wearing the watch will drive the oscillating weight to rotate, and at the same time drive the mainspring in the watch to wind the watch and promote the time.
Electronic watches can be divided into digital quartz electronic watches, analog quartz electronic watches, automatic quartz watches, and light kinetic energy watches.
Digital quartz electronic watch: A watch that combines the piezoelectric effect of quartz crystal and a diode liquid crystal display, and its functions are completely completed by electronic components.
Analog quartz watch: The energy of the quartz watch comes from the silver oxide button battery. After the silver oxide button battery provides a specific voltage to the integrated circuit, the quartz oscillator oscillates through the oscillation circuit and the quartz resonator to form an oscillation circuit source. The electrical signal output from the oscillation circuit enters the frequency division circuit and is divided to generate a pulse signal. The pulse signal is then outputted through the narrow pulse circuit enters the drive circuit for amplification, and forms an alternating bidirectional pulse signal to drive the stepper motor. The intermittent rotation further drives the transmission wheel train, allowing the hands to accurately display the time.
Automatic quartz watch: combines the advantages of an automatic mechanical watch and a quartz watch. It requires no batteries, and the wearer can choose to wind it manually or recharge it automatically. Its electronic quartz device makes it more accurate, with a monthly error of less than ten seconds. Its working principle is to use the dance of the arm to drive the pendulum in the watch to rotate and generate energy to drive the internal micromotor into energy, thus providing sufficient power for the quartz device in the watch, and the excess electrical energy will be stored by micro capacitors for later use. When the watch is fully charged, it can operate continuously for more than 9 days without having to wear the watch on your wrist.
